Elizabeth "Betty" Jane (Graves) Seaboy

Elizabeth “Betty” Jane (Graves) Seaboy, “Ozhawaazizi Ikwe” meaning “Bullhead Woman,” age 65, of the Crane Clan, journeyed to the spirit world on Monday, May 20, 2024, from her home in Cass Lake, MN. She was born on February 2, 1959, the daughter of Gladys (Jourdain) and Wilfred Graves in Minneapolis, MN.

Betty grew up in Onigum, MN. She had worked for years at the Palace Casino, now known as Cedar Lakes Casino. Betty was a loving mother to her son and daughters. She was known for her creativity with her beadwork and her dance moves. Her hobbies were beading, going to pow-wows, watching “CSI” and “Basketball”, listening to oldies music and chair dancing.

In Betty’s earlier years, she was an ace pool player. Her pool team was known as Mr. Arthur’s Wildcats, in 1983, her team was the world champions in Las Vegas, NV. Her pool name was, “Backdoor Betty.”

Betty will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mannie (Carla) Seaboy and Nancy Weber; ex-husband, Mike Seaboy; grandchildren, Cheyenne, Jax, Micah, and Landon Seaboy, Ava Remmel, Dylan Smith, Mary, Megan, Nathan Jr., and Samuel Rosebear; siblings, Roland Graves, Donna (James) Campbell, Patty Graves, Joyce Graves; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Those greeting Betty in the spirit world are her parents, Gladys and Wilford; daughter, Rose Weber; sisters, Barbara (Graves) Stately and Beverly (Graves) Manier; brothers, Richard and Robert Graves, Sr.; and many other relatives.

An overnight wake for Betty will begin on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. and continue until her traditional service on Saturday, May 25th, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., all to be held at the Onigum Community Center in Onigum, MN. Betty’s Spiritual Advisor is Anwat Goodwin. Those helping to lay her to rest are William “Bill” Stately, Daniel Stately, Mathaniel Kingbird, Shawn Campbell, Mike Auginash, Frankie Papasodora-Clark, Aaron Kemp, and Nathan Rosebear, Jr. Alternate pallbearers are Scott Graves, Arnie Oakgrove III, and Robert Lussier, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Rosa Stately, Beverly (Rodney) Prentice, Vernelle Lussier, Nadine (Vince) Cook, Petra (Nick) Ybarra-Johnson, Rebecca Graves, Elaine Monroe-Saccoman, Jackie Kemp, Mary Ellen Graves, Jackie Graves, Gahshi Roper, Shannon Stately, Renee Martin, and Rana Graves. Interment will be in the Red Lake Episcopal Cemetery in Red Lake, MN.
