Francis James Kangas

Francis James Kangas began his spirit journey from Cass Lake IHS on January 20, 2026.

He was born on June 20,1946 in Ball Club, MN. to Mathew and Beulah (Lyons) Kangas.  He was raised in the Bena Cass Lake area.

Francis truly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping.  Later in life he got into stockcar racing and had his own stockcar.  What Fracis absolutely loved to do was anything and everything he could with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Francis worked for many years as a semi driver and logger.  He loved all things outdoors.  He had pet peacocks, Canadian geese, and chickens, the geese were very protective of him.

Those greeting Francis in the spirit world are his parents Mathew and Beulah Kangas, a son, Francis Kangas Jr. Kree Kangas, and Crystal Kangas, Bob Kangas, Joaquin Capitaine, and Mary Kangas.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memories are his beloved wife Eileen Kangas, Sons; William Kangas, John Moski, Daniel Moski, Miguel Kangas, and Sergio Capitaine, daughters; Rita Bendix, Roberta Kangas, Cheryl Kangas, Susana Capitaine, Angelina Capitiane and Jennifer Winterfeldt, brother, Mathew Kangas Sr., sisters; Cheryl Kangas, Bernadine Kangas, and Thersa Kangas, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A two-day wake is being held at the Mission Center in Cass Lake, MN. beginning on January 24, 2026, starting at 6:00 p.m. and continuing until 3:00 p.m. when his service will happen, on January 26, 2026, all to be held at the Mission Center.  Francis’s spiritual advisor will be-----. Those helping to lay Francis to rest are Truman Beauliue, Miguel Capitaine, Sergio Capitine, Bill Kangas, Bear Smith, and Devon Kangas.  Honorary pallbearers for Francis are all his family and friends that knew and loved him.  He will be deeply missed.
