Fredrick "Fred" Nason Obituary

Fredrick “Fred” Nason “Bezhigoogaabo” ~ “Man Who Stands Alone” born Jan 9, 1960 to Franklin Nason, Sr. and Barbara (Robinson) Nason in Dallas, Texas.

When Fredrick was a young boy they moved to Minnesota where he grew up in Ball Club and graduated from Deer River High School. After graduation he attended Northwest Technical College where he played basketball and took carpentry, receiving his certificate. Fredrick worked with MNDOT, being the very first Native American Road Surveyor for most of his younger years. He also worked at Bug School as a bus driver which he enjoyed, then later for the Leech Lake Reservation in other numerous jobs.  He loved building and working on vehicles. Fredrick was a single father who raised his children and was proud to be a grandfather. He loved to spend time and spoil his grandkids. He also loved to laugh and especially give his grandkids, nieces, and nephews nick names that stuck with them.  Fred was a free spirit who would give you the clothes off his back. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Those that welcome Fredrick to the spirit world are his parents; brother, Frank Nason, Jr.; nephew, Jamie Lee Nason; and niece, Nicole Nason.

Those Fredrick leave behind to cherish his memory are his son, Kristofor (Natasha) Cloud of Cloquet; daughter, Kimberly Cloud of Bemidji; grandchildren, Jesse Roberts, Dezarae Sayers, Kiara Cloud, Kristofor Cloud, Jr., Ceigh Sayers, Keean Cloud, and Keith Head; great-grandchild, Gunnar Roberts; brother, Alvin (Julie) Nason; sisters, Corrine Nason, Linda Nason, Frances Nason, and Lisa Nason.

An overnight wake will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15th and continue until his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 16th all being held at the Ball Club Community Center. Pallbearers will be Derek Nason, Matthew Hvezda, Ross Nason, Jeremy Thompson, Frank Nason, and Davis Smith. His honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and great-nephews and nieces. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Ball Club following his Saturday service.
