Gail Geraldine (Johnson) Mills

Gail Geraldine (Johnson) Mills, age 63, of Gordon, Nebraska and formerly of Red Lake, MN lost her battle with Covid on November 8th, 2020 at the Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, NE.

Gail was born in Red Lake, MN to Elizabeth (Parkhurst) and Denfield “Eugene” Johnson on August 6th, 1957.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Every chance she could, Gail would go to the powwows to spend time with her family.  Gail enjoyed playing her casino games on her computer and at the casinos.  She always wanted to be busy, which led her down many different career paths.  Gail was a police officer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Red Lake for some time, she was also a social worker and child protection officer in Red Lake and Pine Ridge, SD, she worked as a gaming commissioner in Red Lake and most recently worked for the Gordon Memorial Hospital in Gordon, NE.  During her last two years, she enjoyed cooking with her kids and grandkids, especially with Allie.  Gail’s spirit lives on in all who loved her.

Family that Gail is reunited with are her parents, Elizabeth and Eugene Johnson; two brothers, Mitchell and Stuart Johnson; and one sister, Lulu Johnson.

She leaves behind her husband, Patrick Mills, Sr.; children, Samantha Dow, Alexandra Dow, Dewayne Dow, Patrick (Kelly) Mills, Jr., Leonard (Noreen) Mills and Wyatt (Rose) Mills, Sr.; brothers, Denfield “Sonny” (Charlene) Johnson, Daniel (Deanna) Johnson and Richard Johnson; sisters, Donna Johnson, Vicki (Brad) Johnson and Chele Johnson; in-laws, Billie Lessert, Connie Morgan, David Mills, Sr. and Neil Morgan, 18 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

An overnight wake for Gail will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, November 13th and continue until her 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Saturday, November 14th all to be held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN.  Waa-maajaa’iwed is Steve Jackson.  Helping to lay Gail to rest are Vincent Johnson, Dustin Johnson, Kyler Patterson, Elias Dow, Charles Parkhurst, Gary Lee Johnson and Tony Martenson.  Her honorary pallbearers are Brad Johnson, Jr., Charles Haukaas, Bruce Dow, Jr., Twila Hopkins, Jane Benais, Sue Antone, Richard Thomas, Larry Martin, Makayla Martin and her co-workers from Gordon Memorial Hospital and the LOWO Family and Children Services.  Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds at Ponemah, MN immediately following her Saturday services.
