Gary "Howdy" Lee Chastek

Gary Lee Chastek “Howdy” passed away on July 18, 2025, at the age of 74 in Walker, MN.

Gary was born on May1, 1951 in Bemidji, MN to Ellsworth “Bud” Chastek and Pernell “Opsahl” Chastek.  Gary grew up in Cass Lake and attended Cass Lake High.  He was a hard-working man and a jack of all trades.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting and the company of his many good friends. 

Gary is survived by his two daughters Kelli and Kristine Price and son, Kyle Price.  He had seven grandchildren, Cody, Heather, Maddie, Ella, Cameron, Claire, and Colin.  His two brothers Larry and Dick; and his three sisters Nancy, Brenda, and Sheila; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by parents Bud and Pernell Chastek.

Graveside service will be held on August 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN.  There will be a Celebration of Life right after the grave side service at the Big Tap in Cass Lake from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  A luncheon will be served.
