George “Jake” Jacobs, Jr., of the Bear Clan and Cass Lake, MN, passed away on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, from Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. He was born on August 3, 1955, in Cass Lake, the son of Louella Hunt and George Jacobs, Sr.
Jake enjoyed playing in many sports when he was younger, especially basketball and softball. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He liked to gamble, go to pow wows, fish, pick boughs, drink beer, and make money. Jake also liked to watch old westerns and sports on television. He was always happy, had a great sense of humor, always making people laugh. Jake called everyone, “Kid”, even the Judge once, which cost him an extra week. He was always generous even when he had nothing. Jake was the founding father of the “50 Cent Crew.” Everyone liked Jake, he made friends everywhere he went. Family was his everything, he took care of his mother until her passing.
Jake is preceded in death by his parents, Louella and George Sr.; sisters, Helen Jacobs and Barb Decora; brothers, Peter Hunt and Willie Jacobs; and a grandson, Patrick Bellanger.
Those Jake leaves behind to forever cherish his memory are the mother of his children, Joanne “Jody” Bellanger; sons, Charles (Robin) Jacobs and Ronald Jacobs; daughters, Angela (Dennis) Jacobs and Carrie (Neil) Bellanger; sisters, Pam (Robert, Sr.) Jacobs and Beverly Jacobs; 15 grandchildren, Marissa, Mariah, Liz, Patsy, Cody, Jada, Samantha, Lilly, Stephanie, Kiera, Azelia, Charles Jr., Ronald Jr., and Dale III; 7 great-grandchildren, Antwun, Anthony, Amirah, Aubriella, Leia, Ariella, and Rahmya.
A two-night wake for Jake will begin on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., and continue until his funeral service at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, October 11, 2024, all to be held at the Facility Center in Cass Lake. Father William “Bill” Butcher will officiate. Those helping to lay Jake to rest are Dennis Littlewolf, George Jacobs, Charles “Chuck” Jacobs, Ronald Jacobs, James Bellanger, Silas Blue, with alternates Neil Ortiz and Dana Dick. Honorary pallbearers are all of Jake’s family and friends. Interment will be in the Old Agency Catholic Cemtery in Old Agency, MN.
