Geraldine Mae Gale, age 81, of the Eagle Clan and Longville, MN, journeyed to the spirit world on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, from the Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji, MN. She was born March 13, 1942, in Cass Lake, MN, the daughter of Jerome and Daisy (Allen) Johnson.
Geraldine grew up and attended school in Longville. She was a lifelong Elvis Presley fan. She enjoyed listening to country western music, cheering on Jimmy Johnson in NASCAR, playing cribbage, Yahtzee, shopping, doing word searches, and jigsaw puzzles. Geraldine always talked about and treated her pets like they were her babies. She liked to get all dolled up to go out. She liked going to the casino and gambling. Geraldine made the best baked beans and loved having big family gatherings where they shared a meal together. Geraldine was proudly employed by Northern Lights Casino for 25 years where she worked as a Vault Cashier and Audit Clerk.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerome and Daisy; sons, Justin Johnson and Alvin Gale; brother, Bruce Johnson; nephews, Jerome Johnson, Sr., Rodney Johnson, Sr., and Bruce Anoka; grandparents, Martin and Grace Allen.
Geraldine is survived by her sons, Darrell (Missy) Johnson, Ronald (Roxanne) Johnson; special daughter-in-law, Sue Dahlberg; brothers, Dave Johnson, Sr., Richard C. Johnson, Robert G. Johnson, Sr.; sisters, Marlene Mitchell, Lorraine Johnson; 8 grandchildren, Cicily, Louis, Darrel Jr., Matthew, Tasheena, Tracie, Donovan, Richard; 23 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Melissa LaRose, Marcy Whitebird, and Lucy Bagley; other relatives and many friends.
An overnight wake for Geraldine will start on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. and continue until her Tuesday, April 18, 2023, 10:00a.m. service, all to be held at the Onigum Community Center in Onigum, MN. Geraldine’s Spiritual Advisor is Allen Hardy. Those helping to lay Geraldine to rest are Matt LaRoque, Steve Johnson, Devin Johnson, Rydell Wheeler, Rodger Johnson, Rodney Johnson, James Johnson, and Amare Whitebird. Honorary Pallbearers are Richard Reese, Bill Brown, Darrel Johnson, Jr., Johnathan Johnson, Jerome Johnson, Jr., Aaron Jackson, Ken Whitebird, Jr. Interment will be in the Old Agency Catholic Cemetery in Old Agency, MN.
