Geraldine "Gerri" Diane Hardy

Geraldine “Gerri” Diane Hardy, “Peach”, “Ozhaawashko-bineshii” meaning “Bluebird” of the Bullhead Clan and Cass Lake, MN, journeyed to the spirit world on Monday, October 9, 2023, from the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. She was born in Cass Lake on November 6, 1970, the daughter of Janice (Holstein) and Walter Hardy, Jr.

Gerri was raised and lived her entire life in Cass Lake on Tract 33. She attended school at Cass Lake-Bena Schools and completed her GED in 1993. Gerri attended the Leech Lake Tribal College in 1993 and achieved degrees in Associates of applied science office occupation, Anishinaabe studies, and associate of arts completed in 1996. She worked at the Leech Lake Tribal College, BIA Office in Bemidji, and numerous positions with the Leech Lake Reservation until she retired due to her health in 2015. Gerri enjoyed going to the casino, watching tv, and visiting with everyone who crossed paths with her. Gerri treasured time with her family, that meant the most to her. She liked Prince and listening to his music.

Those greeting Gerri in the spirit world are her father, Walter Hardy, Jr.; mother, Janice Morgan; brothers, Clyde Morgan, Jr., Walter Hardy, Jr.; and numerous relatives and friends.

Gerri is survived by her stepfather, Clyde Morgan, Sr.; husband, Brendin English-Deegan; sons, Joel “Moonie” Roy, Jr. and Lordez Deegan; 3 grandchildren, Brayden, Dax, and Aubrey; sisters, Paula (Dave), Kristi (Ron), Crystal, and Dianna; brother, Bobby Joe Holstein; numerous other relatives and friends.

A two-night wake for Gerri will begin on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. and continue until her Friday, October 13, 2023, 1:00 p.m. service, all to be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Gerri’s Spiritual Advisor is Allen Hardy. Those helping to lay Gerri to rest are Lordez Deegan, Dylan Fairbanks, Launz Brown, Frank White, Jr., Chad Budreau, and Clyde Morgan, Sr. Alternates are David Hare, Jr. and Dominic Ross. Honorary pallbearers are all Gerri’s friends and family. Interment will follow services in the Lakeview Cemetery in Bena, MN.
