James Arnold Cogsdell was born to Esther Eleanor (Bond) and James Newton Cogsdell in Frankfurt, Germany on January 12, 1965. His family moved to Tacoma, Washington in 1967 where he grew up and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. James enjoyed participating in Boy Scouts, outdoor activities, fishing, hunting, and visiting extended family in Montana every summer. He loved to watch on TV and go to Football (Seahawks), Baseball (Mariners) games and Nascar.
James pursued a career in the food service industry and management for a local restaurant chain in the Pacific Northwest for many years.
In January of 1997 he met his best friend and the Love of his life, Cindy (Phillips) Cogsdell. They were married August 22, 1998. April 2004, he bought a home in Graham, WA where he loved entertaining, swimming in the pool and sitting in the hot tub with family and friends. In March 2010 he welcomed two children age 9 and 11 into his heart and home, whom he loved so deeply that he adopted them to become their Dad. In June 2013 he moved his family to Akeley, Minnesota where he continued his career in the food service industry. He loved to cook. He loved the Minnesota summer activities, mostly camping, fishing, and hunting with his family.
James is preceded in death by his parents, James and Esther Cogsdell and his sister, Sara Dixon Cogsdell.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Lou (Phillips) Cogsdell of Akeley; children, Nathan James (lulu) Cogsdell of Nevis, and Krista Lynn Cogsdell of Nevis; grandson, Leviathan (Levi) Grae Cogsdell of Nevis; brother, Thomas K Cogsdell of Oregon; Sisters, Debbie (Carl) Vanderzanden of Oregon, Carrie Outcalt of Washington. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
A Private Memorial Service for James will be held at Northern Peace Funeral Home in Walker, MN, followed by a Celebration of Life for family and friends at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at The ARCC Gymnasium in Akeley Minnesota.
