James "Baby Jim" Patrick Jones

James Patrick Jones, Aanakwadoons “Little Cloud” began his journey to the spirit world on September 7, 2024. Born on November 3rd, 1995, James was a beloved father, partner, brother, son, uncle, and friend whose warmth and humor left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Known for his sharp intellect—particularly with numbers. James built connections with people from all walks of life, always embracing others with kindness and love. Even those who met him only briefly were touched by his warmth, humor, and generous spirit.

James of the Ajijaak Clan took pride in his Ojibwe culture. Whether it was fishing, ricing, hunting, or listening to the stories of his elders, James honored his roots and shared his knowledge with those around him. He was also a gifted beader, creating beautiful works that he shared with those he loved.

Working alongside his father, James Jones Jr., and his brother, Charles Jones, in Dirt Divers, James expanded his knowledge of archaeology and cultural resources. He cherished the opportunity to engage with the land and his ancestry while working with family.

Above all else, James was a devoted family man. He built a beautiful life with his partner, Valerie Rodriguez. His children—his greatest joy—held special places in his heart, each with their own cherished nickname: Keshaun Michael James (“My Shauny Boy”), Anastasia Azariah (“Stasia Baby”), Aubriella RaeLee (“Angel Baby”), Isabella Elleen (“Baby Love”), and Ramiro Roberto (“Sonny Man”). His family was his world, and he dedicated himself to ensuring they were surrounded by love and laughter.

James is survived by his parents, James Jones Jr. and Patrice Jones; siblings, Davina Curry (Lonnie Crenshaw), Drew Curry (Alisha Mason), Brett Beaulieu (Joyce Tate) & Rae Dahn (Austin Dailey), Shayla Beaulieu, and Charles (Michelle Smith-Jones); grandparents, James Jones Sr. and Della Jones; aunts, uncles, and all of his nieces and nephews.

James is preceded in death by uncle, Andrew Jones; older brother, William Clifford Jones; grandmothers, Wanda L. Jones (Antell) and Donna E. Beaulieu (Parker); aunt, Audrey Stately; nephew, Keshaun Beaulieu; and grandfather, Jim Beaulieu Sr.

James will be remembered for his unconditional love for his family, his passion for his culture, and the joy he brought to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

He will now join the ricing beds alongside his big brother, William Jones Sr., who he missed so much.
