Jason Rivers Obituary

Jason Lee Rivers, age 58, passed aways with his loving daughter and her family by his side on January 3, 2026.  Jason was born to Maria Perez on December 4, 1967, in Minneapolis MN.

Jason truly enjoyed playing poker and was in a Northern Bar league with his daughter Rockelle.  He made it all the way to the running Aces for a chance to be in the World Poker Tour but got knocked out on the bubble.

He also enjoyed hunting and going netting, as well as ricing.  He processed his own wild rice.  He would take his fish and wild rice and do up gift baskets for the elders and give them as gifts to them.  He also loved to bring his community together by making huge meals and feeding them all.

He was very proud of his profession of over 30 years making dentures for people.  He was even known to make them for friends at the dinner table.

Jason loved to have his friends stop by to hang out and visit.  But he truly loved having his family around and his grandchildren.  He made his oldest grandson’s regalia for him.  Rockelle was the pride and joy of his life he did everything to make her life better.

Those that have gone before him are Mom Maria Perez, Grandma Mary Perez, best friend DeMikel Nason, nephew, Dennis Rivers father-in-law Sidney Jones, mother-in-law Diane Jones, 2 brothers, and his sister Stacy Rivers

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife Carol Rivers, daughter Rockelle (Derek) Nason sisters; Theresa Rivers and Marguerite Rivers, grandchildren Damon Jason, Derelle Jamie-Lee and Davin Joshua Nason.

A one-day wake will be held at the Ball Club Community Center in Ball Club, MN.  beginning at 6:00 p.m. on January 11, 2026, until his service at 12:00 p.m. on January 12, 2026.  Pastor Mark Peske will officiate.  Those helping to lay Jason to rest are, Derek Nason, Amos LaDuke, Jordan Swenson, Ben Smith, Jeff Harper, and Dale Fairbanks.  Jason will be laid to rest at Prince of Peace Cemetery immediately following his service.
