Jerry Altnow Geroy, age 80, journeyed to his forever home with the Lord on Saturday, June 21st, 2025. He was born to Burnice (Bollander) and Harold Geroy on Sunday, September 3, 1944, in Graceville, MN.
Growing up, Jerry lived in Crystal, MN and graduated from Robbinsdale High School
in 1962. After graduating, he bought a farm and moved to Osakis. Later Jerry moved to Bemidji, where he worked many jobs. He especially enjoyed working in woods. Eventually, he and his wife Jill settled in Laporte because it was close to many lakes and public land, and it was halfway between their jobs in Bemidji and Walker.
Jerry subbed as a custodian for the Bemidji School District for many years and was hired on permanently, working for them for over 15 years. After he retired, he worked as a sub for the Laporte and Bemidji School districts for several years, until he was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease in 2018.
Jerry loved attending church, he played his guitar and sang many songs, some originals. He also prayed for many people throughout the years for their needs. He liked deer and duck hunting, and fishing for pan fish. He also liked dark house spear fishing. He attended many bible studies and facilitated Sunday School. He liked his truck and spent money on fixing it up and making it go faster. He also was into fitness and had been lifting weights since he was in high school. He worked out almost every day. But his favorite times were the times he spent with his children and grandbabies.
The family that Jerry is reunited with are his parents, Burnice and Harold and his grandson Elijah Stai.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Jill Geroy, his children, Bradley (Margaret Shelby) Geroy, Brian Murphy, and Melissa Katz; grandchildren, Talen and Logan Geroy, Kurt Thiemecke, and Cassandra Holmen; great grandchildren, Elyse, Gabriella and Oliver Holmen and Castiel Thiemecke; three sisters, Rhonda Gould, Jan Geroy and Sherrie Heuer
A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, July 11th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Church in Bemidji, MN. A one-hour visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., also to be held at the church. Pastor Steve Thompson will officiate. Jerry’s cremains will be cared for by his children.
