Jimmy Edward Day, Sr., age 80, of Cass Lake, MN left us on October 12, 2025, at the Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji. He was born in Cass Lake on September 7, 1945, the son of James “Gabo” Day and Delores (Butcher) Day.
Jimmy worked his entire life making his own beautiful cabinetry. He had his own company that handled construction and refurbishing homes. He also worked with the Leech Lake Housing and Jerry Brucki’s Break on the Lake resort. Jimmy enjoyed working on cars, deer hunting and working on his artwork. He was a jack of all trades and a talented artist that could look at anything and draw it. He went into the Army in 1964 and served in the Viet Nam war.
Those that are welcoming Jimmy home are his parents, Delores and James; his children, Jimmy, Jr. (JD), Delores (Dodie), and Curtis; his first wife, Cindy; second wife Phylis; siblings, Curtis, Bonnie, Margaret Smith, Iva Day, Diana Fisherman and Robert Day; nephews, Robert Beaulieu and Dallas Smith, and a niece, Elizabeth White.
Those he left to miss him are his son, Christopher Thompson; grandchildren, Daniel Olson, Brook Olson, Bayley Bluewolf and Curtis (CJ); nephews, Ken Smith, Sr., Jimmy Francis Day, Brian Day, and Aaron Brown; nieces, Beverly Beaulieu, Bonnie (Joey) Beaulieu, Rochelle Brown, Cheryl Brown and Adina Day.
A wake for Jimmy will begin at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 16, 2025, and will continue until his 11:00 a.m. service on Friday, October 17, 2025, all held at the Facility Center in Cass Lake. Bill Butcher will officiate. Pallbearers for Jimmy will be Mark Allen, Ken Smith, Sr., Brandon Beaulieu, Scott White, Sr., Jerrel Spence and Zachary White. Honorary pallbearers will be his son, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Old Agency Catholic Cemetery at Old Agency, MN immediately following his service.
