Joan Darline Formo born January 13, 1938
in Duluth, MN to James & Goldie (Jones) Belt Sr. 

Passed August 27, 2023 in Menahga, MN
 

Studied music and voice at CalPoly. Sang on
stage with Sherman Cochran.
She met and married the love of her life John L
Formo in 1955. Together they had 6 children. As
a family traveled the old west. She was an avid
rockhound. Mined for jade and gold. Worked in
many different fields including Ah-gwah-ching,
Red Lodge Elementary, Western Nuclear
Corporation uranium mine in Jeffrey City, WY.
Joan was always willing to help others. Giving to
the food shelf. Helping where she could.
Through all life threw at her she never lost her
faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, former
husband John L. Formo, son John Formo, grandson
Shawn Dodge, great grandson Maxwell Lindahl,
brothers James Belt Jr. and Donald Belt.
Survived by her children Karen Dodge of Laporte,
Carol Eisenbarth of Laporte, Tim (Tania) Formo
of Laporte, Nancy (Steve) Schmidt of Laurel, MT,
and Penny (Mike) Olson of Laporte. Sisters Myrna
Colliver of Edmond, OK, Valerie (Roger) Parish
of OKC and Russell (Karen) Belt of Laporte. 15
grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Joan will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 1, 2023 held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Laporte, MN, with Pastor David Smith officiating.  Interment will be held in the Lakeport Cemetery at Laporte, following the service at the church.
