John Russell Jones

John Russell Jones, age 70, of Cass Lake, MN began his journey to the Spirit World on Thursday, November 25, 2021, from the Sanford Medical Center in Bemidji, MN. He was born September 2nd, 1951, in Minneapolis, MN the son of Elmer Jones and Adeline “Renie” Jones and biological son of Sidney Jones and Ruth Jones.

John loved to travel, go to pow wows and music festivals. He loved to read and was incredibly knowledgeable in many areas. He was quite the ricer when he was younger. He started his days with coffee and enjoyed cooking breakfast every Saturday morning, no sleeping in. John’s grandchildren were his pride and joy, he cherished every moment with them and would do anything for them. He will be dearly missed.

Those that John will be joining in the spirit world are parents, Elmer Jones, Sidney Jones, and Ruth Jones, siblings, Jackie Jones, Renee Judkins, Albert Jones; cousins, Roxanne LaRose, and Franklin “Doc” LaRose.

Those that are left behind to cherish the memory of John are his wife, Pamela Smith-Jones; mother, Adeline “Renie” Jones, special aunt, Ruthie Thompson; children, Lakota Ironboy, Aaron (Rose) Jones, James G. Jones, Sr., and Jennifer Cloud; siblings, James D. Jones, Sr. of Anchorage, AK, Mindy Jones, Carol (Jason) Rivers, Tara (Matt) Jones, Carrie Jones, Paula Savage, Rosemarie Mestas, Gloria Ponte, Kari Jones, Robert Jones, Louis Jones, Barbara Crawford, Diane Avala, and Angel Pasillas; grandchildren, Jhordyn Kingbird, Azera Ironboy, Aaron Jones, Jr., Lakota Jones, Brooklyn-Star Jones, Ogitchidaa Jones, Raelyn Jones, James Jones, September Jones, and Mariana Jones; and numerous other family and friends.

 A Traditional Wake for John will begin Monday, November 29th, 2021, at 4:00 p.m. and will continue until his Tuesday, November 30th, 10:00 a.m. service, all to be held at Prescott Community Center in Cass Lake, MN with spiritual advisor Allen Hardy. Those helping to lay John to rest will be James G. Jones, Jr., Silas Blue, Earl “Skip” Norton, Jordan Norton, David E. Jones, Sr., and Aaron “BJ” Jones. Honorary pallbearers are all his family and friends.
