John "Jack" Lloyd IV Obituary

John “Jack” Richard Lloyd, age 89, of Laporte, MN passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Birchview Gardens in Walker.  Jack was born on June 1, 1936, in Rochester, MN the son of John and Leone (Christenson) Lloyd.

He was briefly raised on a farm in Rochester before the family moved to NE Minneapolis where Jack would graduate from Edison High School in 1955.  Shortly after graduation Jack enlisted in the United States Army and served until 1958.  During his service he was stationed in Germany with the Third Armored Division.  When Jack returned home, he joined the Carpenter’s Apprenticeship and worked for many years before he was injured on the job which left him unable to work with his tools, so he then turned his attention to becoming Superintendent and management for construction.  He held this position until his retirement in 2001.  Following retirement, Jack moved up north to be with John, Shelley and the family living in the home they built together.

Jack was a very generous person who took his family on a trip to Alaska and would help anyone in need.  He was a grandpa who loved watching his grandkids grow up and being a part of their sporting events throughout the years.  When his daughter bought a cottage on May Lake, Jack was tickled knowing that this meant more grandpa time.  He was an avid fisherman, deer hunter and he especially enjoyed the pheasant hunting in South Dakota with his grandchildren and his golden retriever, Whitey. Jack spent his last year at Birchview Garden’s here in Walker.  The family would like to thank many staff members for their care for Jack.

The family that Jack joins again are his parents, John and Leone; his spouse, Patricia Shipp; two sisters, Lois (Richard) Zwieg and Diane DeKruif.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memories are his former spouse, Beverly Lloyd of Walker, MN; son, John (Shelley) Lloyd of Laporte; daughter, Jill Lloyd of North Oak, MN, grandchildren, John Raymond, Benjamin, Rebecca, Liza and Radnor, numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life for Jack will be held at a later date and will be announced closer to the service date.

Jack’s care has been entrusted to the Northern Peace Funeral Home of Walker, MN.  Online condolences for the family may be given at www.northernpeace.com
