Joseph Daniel Jackson

Joseph “Dbl J” Daniel Jackson, age 50, “Ma jii juu ann” of Walker, MN, journeyed to the spirit world from the Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN on April 5, 2023. He was born on April 4, 1973, in Cass Lake, MN, the son of Fred Kenneth Jackson Jr. and Ruby Lowry.
 

If you needed help, Joe was there.  Just like his dad.  As a lifelong employee at the Northern Lights Casino, Joe was EE#00021.  Working his way up to Assistant General Manager.  He was the type of leader who listened to his employees, never had a bad thing to say about anyone and whose door was always open.  When Joe wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing and especially watching his nephews play ball.  Joe enjoyed watching all kinds of sports, his favorite was the Masters Tournament.  He worked hard and played in many golf tournaments, making many friends there.  Joe always took someone with him when he went hunting.  He loved taking Baby Dan out into the woods with him so he could teach him “how it’s done”.

Joe was preceded in death by: his dad Fred Jackson Jr.; paternal grandparents Fred and Rose Jackson Sr.; maternal grandparents Benny and Margaret Lowry; cousins Tim, Renae, Laurie, Mike, Rose, Sheena, Randy, DJ, Theresa, Ernest Declusin and his son Ernie, and several other relatives.

He leaves behind his mother Ruby Lowry, special daughters, Haylie and Rayna; his sister Dana Marie Jackson; five brothers, Daniel (Rochelle) Jackson, Fred (Nakasha) Jackson III, Scotty Jackson, Aaron (Tashina) Jackson, and Steve (Aurora) Johnson; “his baby” Daniel, all his nieces and nephews who meant the world to him; aunties, uncles, other family members, and many friends.

A wake for Joe Jackson, will be begin Tuesday evening, April 11th, at 7:00 p.m., at the  Onigum Community Center. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Northern Lights Casino, Walker, MN. Father Bill Butcher and Rod Northbird will officiate. Pallbearers are Joe Wright, Jason Meixner, Tony LaDeaux, Steve Dahmen, Bob Lowry, Hunter Joseph Jackson, Dion Jackson, Daniel M. Jackson, Jr., Thomas Jackson, Casey Cody. Alternate pallbearers are Henry Chosa, Fred Jackson IV, and Cale Jackson. His honorary pallbearers are Faron Jackson Sr., Laurel Jackson, Molly Wenz, Steve Gotchie, Joe Wind and his Northern Lights Family. Interment will follow the funeral service on Wednesday at the Old Agency Catholic Cemetery, in Walker, MN.
