KayLa Magee Obituary

KayLa Shay Magee “Zhaawinung giishigookwe” “Southern sky woman”, age 24, of the Loon Clan and Mahnomen, Minnesota, started her spiritual journey on August 17th, 2021, in Minneapolis, MN. She was born on July 21st, 1997, in Minneapolis, MN to Sheila Stone and David Magee.

KayLa went to grade school in Wauben, MN while living with her dad and she transitioned into the Anishanaabe Academy in Minneapolis, MN while living with her mom.

KayLa was a social butterfly and enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. She was a jingle dress dancer at pow wows when she was younger. She had friends wherever she went. She could put a smile on your face simply by entering the same room as you. She enjoyed talking about anything and everything. She was honest and would say what was on her mind. She enjoyed going for “joy rides” and laughing. She enjoyed teasing everyone, however, she hated to be teased and was very sensitive. She valued her time learning how to fight from her brothers and still enjoyed boxing around with them. KayLa and “Vomma” had a special bond, and all knew it. She loved her dog, Nacho and would share her food with him. She loved all her family, and several good friends, many of them who were her cousins. She always had time for family.

Those left behind to cherish KayLa’s memories are her mother, Sheila (Michael) Stone of Otsego, MN; father, David (Rose) Magee of Nay-Tah-Waush, MN; grandmothers, Jean Magee and Bernice Bellanger; brothers, Jeremy LeMieux, Marcus LeMieux, Nicholas Stone, Eugene Sundquist, Joshua Bellanger; sisters, Stacey LeMieux, Bonita LeMieux, Renee LeMieux, Samantha Stone, Dorlene Stone; aunties, Michelle Magee, Andrea Bellanger, Sonya Stone, Denise Stone, Sherryline Neeland; uncle, Richard Stone; niece, Joyce LeMieux; and numerous other family members and friends.

Those KayLa joins in the spirit world are grandparents, Eugene and Doreen Stone; grandfathers, Danny Magee and Lawrence Ortiz; uncles, John Basswood, and Eugene Stone, Jr.; and sister, Michelle Stone.
