Keely Headbird-Huesers Obituary

Keely Nanette Headbird-Huesers, “Nenookaasi” meaning “Hummingbird”, age 35, of the Bear Clan and Cass Lake, MN journeyed to the Spirit World on Monday, June 16, 2025, from Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Duluth, MN. She was born on January 18, 1990, in Bemidji, MN, the daughter of Susan Headbird and Charles Huesers.

Keely loved adventure and traveling. She was full of high energy, hardworking, and driven. She enjoyed going to the casino, going for walks, and fishing. She proudly served in the United States Army before an early honorable discharge due to medical. She was a social butterfly, loved cooking, and was known for her steak and lemons. Keely was a fashionista, with a girly aesthetic, who liked to get dressed up and look good. Above all, Keely loved spending time with her 3 daughters. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved her.

Keely is preceded in death by her parents, Susan and Charles; grandparents, Helen and Emmanuel Headbird, Delima and Donald Huesers; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

Those Keely leaves behind to forever cherish her loving memory are her 3 daughters, Nantina and Nakomis Fineday, and Rosa Lopez; brothers, Charles Huesers and Jordan (Rosella) Headbird; close aunties, Wanda Croaker and Nancy Cameron; close cousins, Stevie “Rea” (Robert) Thunderhawk and Tommi (Paul) Lindgren; numerous other family members and friends.

A two-night wake for Keely will begin on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. and continue until her 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Friday, June 20, 2025, all to be held at the Mission Community Center, in Mission, MN. Father William “Bill” Butcher will officiate. Those helping to lay Keely to rest are Brad Croaker, William Croaker, Randolph Headbird, Christopher Headbird, Travis Huesers, and Thomas Huesers, with alternates; Michael Headbird, Franklin Wind, Chavez Wind, James Baird, Jon Schneider, and Robert Thunderhawk. Honorary pallbearers are all of Keely’s family and friends. Military honors accorded by the Leech Lake Veterans Memorial Honor Guard at Prince of Peace Cemetery in Mission, along with interment.
