Leon Sailor Obituary

Leon George Sailor, 44 years old, was called home by the Lord on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023 from the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.

Leon was born in Minneapolis, MN on January 18th, 1979, to Linda (Buckanaga) and Louis Sailor, Sr.  He was raised there until September of 2000, when he moved to Cass Lake, MN with his family.  Leon worked for Leech Lake Gaming, Leech Lake Temporary Work, TMP, and other odd jobs throughout the years.  Recently he began online college courses with Post University's Business Management Bachelor's degree program.  Leon also enjoyed his phone games, chess, he is great at chess and hard to beat.  He loved being with family, joking, laughing, cooking, reading, puzzles, he was a great uncle to his niece's and nephew's.  He loved to help out his family, friends, ANYONE really.  Leon had a big, beautiful heart, great sense of humor and was shy; but once you got him talking it was hard to stop him.  He was also a good listener who really was concerned, caring, loving to all who knew him or just anyone acquainted with him.  Leon was one of the best brother's, the best son, uncle, nephew, friend, and just a good man who loved to attend church, loved Jesus.  He was a Mama's boy once upon a time, and will be missed immensely by all his family, friends and all who knew him.

He joins in Heaven and Death his father, Louis Sailor Sr. of Cass Lake; his older brother and sister-in-law, Louis A Sailor Jr. of Minneapolis and Cass Lake (Louise Durant); brother-in-law, Dallas J. Boswell (Leta Sailor) of Minneapolis; uncles, aunts, and many other family.

He leaves behind his mother, mother, Linda L. Sailor (nee; Buckanaga); uncle, Dennis Buckanaga (Charla May); older sisters; Elisa Sailor and Leta Sailor; nieces, Carol Sailor, Larissa Sailor, and Lia Durant Sailor; nephews, Lawrence “Lawrenzo”, Lyndon, Landrew Sailor, Louis III, Loren Durant-Sailor and many other cousins and family.

An overnight wake for Leon will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10th and continue until his 11:00 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, February 11th all to be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Pastor David Yates will officiate.  Pallbearers for Leon will be Lindon Sailor, Landrew Sailor, Lawrence Sailor, Louis Sailor III, Loren Sailor, and Mike Durant.  His honorary pallbearers are Larissa Sailor, Carol Sailor, and Lia Sailor.  Inurnment will be in the Old Agency Catholic Cemetery at Onigum, MN at a later date.
