Marilyn Vogt Obituary

Marilyn Barbara (Mankenberg) Vogt

Marilyn was born in Chicago, Illinois to Harold and Gertrude Mankenberg along with her older brother Harold, Jr. After moving to Walker Judith and Clifford joined the family.

Attending school in Walker, Marilyn was very active in cheerleading, plays and sports. Meeting her high school sweetheart James Sterling Vogt. After a long engagement and a war, they married. When Jim returned from Korea their son Jeff was two years old. The family moved to Wyzetta for a time and then in 1960 to “the farm” in Delano. Marilyn and Jim worked hard to renovate and fix up the barn and homestead. In 1971 they moved to Little Falls, MN where Jim was employed at Larson Boat Works.

Marilyn always kept a neat and tidy home and took great pride in her cooking and table settings. Although, she would go fishing and duck hunting with Jim when she could. Her greatest joys were in her beautiful gardens, which she kept expanding a bit more every year, and sitting at her sewing machine.  She was an excellent seamstress making clothes for her family. In the 70’s she kept her daughter Jill in fashion and style by creating many outfits for her. She also was very efficient at knitting and crocheting. She made countless Afghans, doilies and place setting over the years.

After their children graduated from high school and Jim retired from Larson Boats, they made their way back to Walker and then Hackensack. Marilyn and Jim both got jobs in Cass County as Bailiffs where they worked until retiring in 2013.

Those left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her beloved husband, Jim; son, Scott (Patty) Vogt; daughter Jill (Jeff Zyvoloski) Quint; grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sons, Doug and Jeff Vogt; brother, Harold Jr.; and sister, Judy.
