Marilyn Francine Yanez

Marilyn Francine Yanez, age 42, lost her battle with cancer and made her journey to the spirit world from her home on Wednesday, March 20th, 2024, surrounded by family, in Minneapolis, MN. She was born on February 6th, 1982, in Minneapolis, the daughter of Noreen Smith and Torivio Yanez, Sr.

Marilyn was born and raised in Minneapolis. She enjoyed the simple things in life. You would always find her on her computer or at the park. She loved spending time at the Downtown library where she also spent 6 months volunteering there. Marilyn loved her talk shows and eating soul food. Marilyn’s greatest love was the love she had for her beloved daughter, Laylah. Marilyn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her dad, Torivio Yanez, Sr.; sister, Celesta Yanez; brothers, Jeremy Yanez, Robert Taylor, and Daniel Robertson.

Those Marilyn leaves behind to forever cherish her memory are her daughter, Laylah Ibrahim; mom, Noreen Smith; significant other, Kareem Ibrahim; brothers, Torivio Yanez, Jr., John Robertson, Rudy Yanez, Dennis Yanez; sister, Katherine Yanez; along with numerous friends and other family members.

An overnight wake for Marilyn will begin on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. and continue until her funeral service at 12:00 p.m., Sunday, March 31st, 2024, all to be held at the Onigum Community Center in Onigum, MN. Those helping to lay Marilyn to rest are John Robertson, Todd Powell, Eddie Smith, James Yanez, Kenneth Yanez, Brian Smith, and Dennis Yanez. Honorary pallbearers are all Marilyn’s Family and friends. Interment will be in Old Agency Cemetery in Onigum, MN.
