Mary Lynn Thompson

Mary Lynn Thompson, “Cookum” age 63, of the Bear Clan and Cass Lake, MN, journeyed to the spirit world on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, from the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND. She was born on March 10, 1959, in Ponsford, MN, the daughter of Mary Lemae (Roberts) and Jacob Thompson.

Mary loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed going to rummage sales and thrift stores, gardening, working, and reading. Mary was known for always having a good home cooked meal and food available at her house. She always kept her family in line and together. Mary was always caring for others, checking up on them, cleaning up their homes, and putting a pot of coffee on, making sure they were well  taken care of.

Those greeting Mary in the Spirit World are her parents, Mary Lemae and Jacob Thompson; sister, Virginia Thompson; brothers, Franklin Roberts, Leonard Butcher, Jacob, Jordan, and Joseph Thompson; daughter, Stephanie Thompson; significant others, Douglas Dick, Sr., and Robert Goodman; grandson, Markell Cloud; 2 granddaughters; and numerous friends.

Those Mary leaves behind to forever cherish her loving memory are her sons, Douglas Dick, Jr., Jeramiah (Marijayne) Thompson; daughters, Maria Thompson Cruze, Candace (Dameon) Dick; sister, Faith Ann Thompson; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; numerous other family members and friends.

An overnight wake for Mary will begin Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. and continue until her Thursday, March 16, 2023, 10:00 a.m. service, all to be held at the Oak Point Community Center in Oak Point. Mary’s Spiritual Advisor is Allen Hardy. Those helping to lay Mary to rest are Douglas Dick, Jr., Jeramiah Thompson, Dameon Severson, Joaquin Cruze, Mark Kline, Douglas Dick III. Jordaine Thompson will be an alternate. Honorary pallbearers are all Mary’s children, grandchildren, and sister, Faith Ann Thompson. Inurnment will be at a later date.
