Max Morrow, Jr. Obituary

Max Eugene Morrow, Jr., age 61, of Saint Paul, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world on Sunday, March 1st, 2020 from Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN.

Max was born in Cass Lake, MN on March 3rd, 1958 to Gladys Jane (Cloud) Morrow and Max Morrow, Sr.  Max and his family lived in Grand Rapids for several years before moving to Denver, CO and eventually returning to Minneapolis, MN where they lived with his sister Teddie for a year before finding their own place in Little Earth.  Max was a proud resident of Little Earth back then.  He was a very hard worker.  Max worked for the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe at the firewood company in Bena and was in maintenance at the Palace, before starting at PPL Industries, where he worked for more than 20 years.  Max was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and was a supporter of the “Change Your Name” initiative for professional sports teams.  He had a remarkable sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.  Max enjoyed working on cars, going to powwows and browsing the internet for good deals.  Like the rest of his family, Max loved cats; he thought of them as his babies.  He loved listening to his soul music on KMOJ and later took a liking to rock music.  His favorite song and the song that he and his wife called theirs was “Touched by a Rose” by Seal.

Family that Max is reunited with are his mom, Gladys (Cloud) Morrow; brothers, Reuben, Darrel and Gerald “Jerry” Morrow and Raymond “Doug” Cloud; aunties, Josephine Morgan and Maggie Garbow; uncles, David Morgan, Silas, Harrison, Mike and Ernest Cloud; nephew, Baby Croaker; cousins, Karin Morgan, Patricia and Gilbert Moose and Merrick Moose; his favorite fur baby, Lotus; and other family members.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Rebecca Henry-Morrow of St. Paul; daughter, Maxine White of Cass Lake; step sons, Gary and Brandon Henry-Gouge both of Grand Forks; step daughter, Brandi Henry-Gouge of Minneapolis; dad, Max Morrow, Sr. of Bemidji; very special sister, Theodora “Teddie” Redwing of Cass Lake; brothers, Joe Cloud and Ken Morrow; special auntie, Leona Shaugobay; aunt, Janice Morrow; uncle, Jack Morrow; nieces, Carlotta Redwing, Kari and Lisa Cloud; nephews, Matthew Wing, Eric Cloud, and Doug Cloud, Jr.; cousins, Dawn, Clyde, Kerry, David and Doreen; grandchildren, Wesley (Chelsea) Moe, Alexis and Deborah White, Morales and Nigoni Ikwe Poncelet; his fur babies, Cocoa and Alex; several more grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

An overnight wake for Max will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4th and continue until his 11:00 a.m. traditional service on Thursday, March 5th all to be held at the David Morgan Community Center in Bena, MN.  Pallbearers for Max are Clyde Morgan, Kerry Morgan, Ken Morrow, Joe Cloud, Emilio Ortega and Cliff Croaker.  His honorary pallbearers are all his relatives and friends.  At Max’s request, his cremated remains will remain with his wife.
