Michael “Julio” Allen Staples, 65, of Cass Lake began his journey on November 21, 2024, from Cass Lake IHS in Cass Lake MN. Julio was born on May 22, 1959, to Burnham Wilson and Cecelia (Staples) Drouillard in Cass Lake MN.
Julio grew up in Bemidji MN. He attended school there as well. While going to school in Bemidji he enjoyed playing basketball and hockey. After finishing high school, he moved to Cass Lake MN, and lived the rest of his life there. He enjoyed playing softball, horseshoes and pool while in Cass Lake.
Julio also enjoyed trips to the casino and watching his Minnesota Vikings and Wild. He truly loved spending time with the family. He would take his grand nieces and nephews to the races every Sunday in the summer.
Those greeting Michael are his mom Cecelia, dad Burham; brother Clarence (Koosh) Staples; sisters Linda (Red) Staples, Louella (Anna) Drouillard, Barbara (Pumpkin) Drouillard; uncles Charles Staples Jr. Samuel Staples Sr. Richard Staples and Patrick Staples; Aunts Betty Staples Delores Morrow, Catherine Adams, Roberta Wind (Staples) Naomi Countryman, and Barbara Staples.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are son Michael Allen Headbird; brothers Kenneth (John) Staples Sr. Dennis (Helm) (Margaret) Staples Sr, Darryl (Duck) (Claudette) Drouillard, Burnham (Dauser) (Ramanda) Drouillard; sister Denise Staples; special grandniece Arayah (Little Princess) and grandnephews Kenneth (Niswe) and Adrick (Johnny).
The wake for Julio will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday November 24, 2024, and continue until his 1 p.m. service on Tuesday November 26, 2024, all to be held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake MN. Helping to lay Mike to rest will be Corey Drouillard, Richard Budreau Jr., Kenneth Staples Jr., Jacob Morris, Ryan Staples Sr., Dennis Staples Jr. Cheyenne Budreau, Nicholas Budreau Sr. and Adrian Staples Sr. Honorary pallbearers are all of his nieces and nephews. The internment will be at the Fairbanks family cemetery.
