Nadine Lucille (Hodder) Chase

Nadine Lucille Chase (Hodder) “Granny”, age 86, died peacefully on March 13th, 2021 surrounded by family in Andover, Minnesota. Nadine was born on September 13th, 1934 near Waboose Bay in Bena, Minnesota. Nadine-iban Gaa-zagaskwaajimekaag gii-onjibaa (Nadine was from Leech Lake Nation).

Nadine championed advocacy for the next seven generations and served her community through various different roles and titles throughout her lifetime, but perhaps her most sacred role was that of leader and matriarch of the family.

The family that Nadine joins again are her mother, Dorothy Veronica Hodder; brothers, John C. Beaulieu & Charles Beaulieu,“Chuck”; sister, Wendy Beaulieu; and grandson, Corey Chase.

Those she leaves behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 67 years, Walter Chase Jr.; brother, Cheyenne (Jeanette) Hodder; daughter, Cheryl Ann Chase; sons, Walter (Elizabeth) Everett Chase III,“Butch” & John Charles Chase, “Punk” (Kris Rubin); granddaughter and long-term caregiver, Candace Chase; granddaughter, Brianna Chase; grandson, Jordan Chase (Michelle Corneillier); grandson, Samuel (Kaylee) Chase; granddaughter, Juliane Chase-Wilson (Colby Wilson-Chase); great-grandchildren: Taylor Waggoner, Cora Stasik, Zelda Chase, Chase Stasik, Lucille Wilson, & Nadine Chase; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones.

A visitation for Nadine will begin at 8:00 AM, Saturday, March 20, 2021 and will continue until the service at 1:00 PM all held at the Dave Morgan Community Center, 15085 Old Housing Drive Bena, Minnesota 56626.  Interment will be held in the Lakeview Cemetery next to the community center following the service on Saturday.  The family is asking that attendees honor social distancing protocols in order to keep everyone safe; masks are required.
