Nadine Caroline Kingbird

Nadine Caroline Kingbird, “Mash Kode Ikwe” which means “Prairie Woman” of the Bear  clan, age 81, of Barnum, MN. started her spirit journey at her home on Thursday, January 23, 2025, unexpectedly.  She was born May 18, 1943, in Thorp, Wisconsin to Ione (Heiser) and Forest Jordan.

Nadine was raised and went to school in Thorp Wisconsin, after graduation she went to the University of Minnesota obtaining her bachelor’s degree. 

After graduating from the U of M she went to work for the State of Minnesota as a Chemical Dependency Counselor.  She worked there until she retired at the age of 55. 

She met and married the love of her life in 1983, Lawerence Kingbird.  When Nadine retired, she continued to stay active raising her children and grandchildren.  She truly enjoyed a good book, going to the casino, and playing a game of Yahtzee with her husband (which he would cheat at). On nice days she liked a car ride past lakes, and just sitting by the window watching nature. Her fur babies were very important to her as well.  What she enjoyed the most was spending time with family.

Those she meets in the spirit world are her parents; Forest and Ione Jordan, daughters; Crystal Dorr, brother; Clancy Jordan, and granddaughter; Nicolaza Cruz.

Those left behind to cherish her loving memories are her husband; Lawrence, son’s; Shane (Apryl) Kingbird and Shawn (Angela) Kingbird. Daughters; Linda (John) Whitney, Angela (Charles) Gookin, Gloria Kingbird, Elva (Jalen) Kingbird, and Esperansa Kingbird, grandchildren; Nino Dorr, Efren Morales-Cruz, Eulogio Lopez, Shawn Kingbird II, Maria Ramos-Smith, Araceli (Dexter) Ramos-Smith and numerous other grand and great-grandchildren.

A wake for Nadine will begin at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday January 28, 2025, and will continue until her traditional service on Thursday January 30, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. all to be held at the Redby Community Center, Redby Minnesota.  Those helping to lay Nadine to rest are, Eulogio Lopez, Nino Dorr, Efren Morales-Cruz, Jalen Paulson, Shawn Kingbird II, and Charles Gookin.  Honorary pallbearers are John Talley, Shawn Kingbird Sr., Shane Kingbird, and all those that knew and loved her. Interment will be immediately following the service in the Kingbird Family Burial Grounds, Ponemah, Minnesota.
