Natasha Marie Thompson, “Gichi Migizikwe” Big Eagle Woman of the Eagle Clan began her journey on Thursday, January 29th, 2026, from the Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota surrounded by her loved ones, she was 42 years old. She was born to Stacy Strong on Thursday, March 10th, 1983, in Bemidji, Minnesota.
She was raised in Cass Lake, MN by her mom and grandparents Peggy Thompson and Gordon Northbird. Natasha worked for 10 years as a health advocate, a domestic violence advocate and as an administrative officer for the Leech Lake Police Department. She had many interests and hobbies. She loved blasting tunes in her car, going to powwows for the food and rides to look for new Eats and things to try. Natasha loved her family and friends. She was always there to care for and listen when she was needed. She especially loved her kids and grandbabies, who were her entire world.
Natasha is greeted in the spirit world by her mom Stacy Strong, grandparents Albertina “Peggy” Thompson and Gordon Northbird, Sr., sister Marya Jenkins, nephew Tristan and niece Makayla.
Those left behind to forever cherish her memories are her life partner of 17 years Earl Smith, daughters Taylor Jenkins and Deandra Smith, step sons Dominic and Ethan Smith, grandchildren Aleida and Paytah Jenkins and Waziya Smith, sisters Simone Strong-Thompson, Charlee Ogema-Headbird, and Chantel Fahlstrom , brothers Jared Thompson and Allen Strong, father William Strong, special siblings Mark and Paul Jourdain, Angelo Hart, Jessica and Sadonna Connor, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
An overnight wake for Natasha will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, February 2nd, 2026, and continue until her 10:00 a.m. traditional service on Tuesday, February 3rd all being held at the Mission Community Center in Cass Lake, MN. Allen Hardy will be her Spiritual Advisor. Pallbearers for Natasha will be Mark Jourdain, Angelo Hart, Dion Barrett, Allen Strong, Ethan Smith, Dominic Smith, and Chris Stauffer. Honorary pallbearers are all Natasha’s family and friends who loved her. Inurnment will be in the Thompsonville Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN in the spring.
