Nylene Headbird Obituary

Nylene Rae Headbird (Pohozhwgahbow: She stands alone)

Born: August 5th, 1976, Age: 49, Passed: April 9th, 2026, in Minneapolis, Minnesota

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nylene Rae Headbird, who began her journey to the Spirit World on April 9th, 2026, at the age of 49.

Pohozhwgahbow was a proud Annishanabe woman of the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe and of the Bear Clan. Though she lost connections, she still remained deeply connected to her family, traditions and to the land in one way or another.

She grew up in Cass Lake, Minnesota, went to college in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and then lived most of her adult life in Hinckley Minnesota. Near the ending of her life, she spent her days around Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, building new friends and new community.

She carried herself with quiet strength and a generous heart, she helped those in need even when she was in need herself. During her younger days she enjoyed going to concerts with her family, going fishing, having weekends at the cabin and watching scary movies. She also enjoyed spending time with Ragman Davis (Keiras Emotional Support dog.)

Near the end of her life, she got more into doing beadwork and working on crafts.

She leaves behind her children, and many relatives and community members that have been touched by her kindness.

Cordell Coss (son), Keira Davis (daughter), Lorraine Hullet (sister), Sarah Headbird (extra special sister), Randolph Headbird, Christopher Headbird, William Headbird (Brother), Leslee Villebrun (niece), Larissa Hulett (niece), Levi Villebrun (nephew) Ron Hullet Jr (nephew)

She was proceeded in death by Carmel (Folstrom) Headbird (mother), Randy Headbird (father), Orlean and Marion (Budreau) Folstrom (grandparents), Rodger Burnett, Robert Holstein, Josheph Holstein (Brothers), Amanda Headbird, Carmel Headbird, Frances “Frenchie” Holstein, and Janice Morgan (sisters) Endonnis Baird (sister)

We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her ancestors in the spirit world. Until we meet again, we carry her spirit in all we do.
