Oliver Canty, a devoted husband and father, peacefully passed away on April 25th, 2024, at the age of 93. He was born in Superior, Wisconsin, on November 12th, 1930, to Yola Lane and Oliver Canty Sr. Oliver lived a life defined by his faith in Jesus and his love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to his family. He found the love of his life in Joan Matthews, and they were united in marriage on July 15th, 1949. Together, they embarked on a remarkable journey spanning 75 years, built on a foundation of love, respect, and shared values.
Throughout his life, Oliver held various jobs, but his most fulfilling was his 15-year tenure with the county. He took immense pride in his work and cherished the time spent serving his community.
Oliver's legacy lives on through his eight children: Rick, Brenda, Dana, LuAnn (Berge), Robin, Dean, Carla (Broste), and Paula. He instilled in them his values and teachings, which they carry forward with pride.
Oliver’s greatest joy in life was dancing with his wife Joan to good old country music. A man of simple pleasures, he indulged in his favorite pastimes of hunting and fishing. His infectious laughter and warm presence endeared him to all who knew him.
Oliver is survived by his loving wife, Joan Canty, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. His memory will be forever treasured by those whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Oliver's life will be held at the Bena Community Center, located near the cemetery, on May 18th at 1:00 PM.
