Born on August 27, 1939, in rural Gary, Minnesota, Pat was the daughter of August Bernard Lindberg and Ellenora Elizabeth (Hed) Lindberg. Pat grew up on a farm near Fertile, MN where she graduated from Fertile High School in 1957. While in Fertile, Pat was active in the Luther League, started her educator passion teaching Sunday School and played basketball in an intramural league. Raised with strong values and a deep appreciation for her Swedish heritage, she carried the spirit of her upbringing throughout her life. A proud farm girl at heart, Pat’s vibrant and spunky nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Pat earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Bemidji State University. She went on to dedicate 26 years of her life to teaching in South Washington County School District 833. Her commitment to education and the countless young lives she touched during her career remain a testament to her passion for learning and nurturing growth.
She shared a devoted marriage of 62 years with her husband Richard and took immense pride in their family. Pat and Richard lived in Inver Grove Heights, MN where they raised their children Ryan and Amy. Pat was heavily involved in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church teaching Sunday School, a member of the Church Council and active within women’s groups.
Pat is lovingly remembered by her husband Richard, son Ryan Wagner and his children Sylvia, Charles, and Violet; her daughter Amy Wagner and her children Cole and Kadence; as well as by her brother Jon Lindberg, in-laws Bev Lindberg, Dixie Johnston, Linda and Melvin Sovde, Wendy and Larry Payton. She also leaves behind several nephews and nieces who were dear to her.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, August and Ellenora (Hed) Lindberg, parents-in-law, Richard and Myrtle (Iverson) Wagner, her brother Robert Lindberg, and in-laws Ione Bahm, Charles Bahm, Eddie Johnston, Carolyn Lindberg and two nephews.
In addition to being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, educator and friend, Pat found joy in collecting Hummel figurines, shopping, cooking, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She cherished life in Minnesota where she felt most at home among the strength of her family ties and traditions.
