Peggy Ann Hunt

Peggy Ann Hunt, age 66, of the Bear Clan and Onigum, MN, met her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 20, 2023, from her home, at Shilo Assisted Living in Pequot Lakes, MN. She was born in Cass Lake, MN, on April 15, 1956, the daughter of Phyllis Louise (Chief) and James Joseph Hunt, Sr.

Peggy loved her dogs, being an aunt, and spending time with her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together, watching “The Young and the Restless” and “Days of Our Lives”, going to powwows, casinos, and playing slots. She lived an adventurous life with minimal responsibilities and looked forward to her daily hitchhiking. Peggy was humorous, bringing laughter to wherever she was. She always made time to go to church with her buddies. Peggy would take care of any sick family members, no matter the distance, she was there. She always enjoyed family gatherings and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceding Peggy in death are her parents, Phyllis and James Hunt, Sr.; brothers, Roland, Ronald, Ernest, Eli, Spencer, and James Hunt, Jr.; sisters, Donna, Brenda, Alice, Helen, Louella, and Janice Hunt, and Judy Littlewolf; nephews, Russell Tucker, Richard “Dicky Doo” Littlewolf, Jr., Roland Hunt, Jr., Duane Hanks, Jr.; nieces, Lisa Dakota, Nettla Hunt; and close friend, Donald White.

Peggy is survived by her significant other, Brian Overby; brothers, Matthew (Ruth) Hunt, Melvin (Joy) Hunt; sister-in-law, Susan McMurrin; close nieces, Cindy (William) Jackson-Kingbird, Crystal (Gerald) Hunt-Welch, Lavone (Dennis) Smith, Phyllis “Chocie” Hunt; close nephew, Ernie Dakota; close friends, Greg Escobedo, Emmilee Smith, LaVae Oothoudt, Pat Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

An overnight wake for Peggy will begin Monday, March 27, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at the Onigum Community Center in Onigum, MN. Peggy’s memorial service will be Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Onigum. Father William “Bill” Butcher will officiate. Peggy’s urn bearer is Osmond Hunt-Fairbanks. Honorary urn bearers are all Peggy’s family. Interment will be in the Spring of 2023 in St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery in Old Agency.
