Preston Sloane Urrutia, “Giiwedin” meaning “Northern Wind” age 47, of San Fransisco, California and the Eagle Clan unexpectedly journeyed to the spirit world on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in San Fransisco. He was born on April 15, 1976, in Bemidji, Minnesota, the son of Lorna (Gale) and Benito Urrutia, Jr.
Preston graduated from Fond du Lac Ojibwe high school and continued his education earning a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and becoming a licensed mental health professional. He always enjoyed helping others, which led to his choice of a career. Preston enjoyed hiking, taking friends trips, going to the movies, going for coffee and out to eat with friends, traveling, and taking pictures. Preston loved being an uncle. He also loved Christmas. Horror movies were a favorite of his. Preston loved family gatherings and hated how recent the gatherings are because of a funeral, he liked celebrating the holidays and having get togethers. He was a social guy and enjoyed trying new foods. Preston will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those greeting Preston in the spirit world are his grandparents, Marlene J. (Robinson) and Leonard Stately, Josephine Kingbird Johnson, Benito Urrutia, Sr.; dad, Benito Urrutia, Jr.; cousins, Kimberly Bellanger, Renee VanNett, Hubert Urrutia, Michelle Urrutia; numerous other family members and friends.
Those Preston leaves behind to forever cherish his memory are his mom, Lorna Urrutia; brothers, Benito Urrutia III, Benny Urrutia, Sr.; sisters, Stephanie Goggleye, LeaRosa Urrutia; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
