Preston White Obituary

Preston Kier White, “Niigaani Winini” which means “Young Man in Front”, 14 years young, of Longville, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world from his home on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2021.  He was born on February 19th, 2007 in Coon Rapids, MN, he is the son of Donna White and Duane Kier.

Preston enjoyed dancing and drumming at powwows and competing at both.  He was highly respected for his knowledge of Ojibwe culture and traditions, learning to grass dance and sing at the age of three years old.  This allowed Preston to share his talents with the young ones who wanted to learn the Ojibwe ways.  He was an avid basketball player and was a WWE fanatic.  He collected figurines and never missed a Monday Night Raw.

One of Preston’s greatest accomplishments and proud moments was when he and the Northland Drum Group sang honor songs to President Obama and at the 2018 Super Bowl in Minneapolis.

Preston was a great listener, always taking time to listen to his family and friends as his love and respect for them was enormous.  He will be missed by all including his powwow family.

Family welcoming Preston the spirit world are his brother; Arnold Wade, grandparents; Lillian and Hartley White, Sr., uncle; Joseph White, aunties; Rachel and Shirley White, nephew; Phillip Wade, Jr., many other aunties, uncles and cousins.

He leaves behind his mom and dad; Donna White and Duane Kier, siblings; Diane White, Laura (Dave) Chase, Phillip Wade, Sr., Larry (Sharlene) Wade III and Cory Jones, aunties; Peggy White, Linda Morris, Jean Howard and Bonita Desjarlais, uncle; Hartley White, Jr., many more relatives and friends.
