In Loving Memory of Randi Owens
February 28, 1958 – June 10, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of Randi Owens’ passing. She passed peacefully in her favorite place, her cherished home along the banks of the Mississippi River on June 10, 2025. Born in Bemidji, Minnesota, Randi was raised by her mother, Adrienne (Jay) Adkins, who instilled in her the values of strength, resilience, and compassion. As a proud member of the White Earth Reservation, Randi carried her heritage with honor.
For over thirty years, Randi dedicated her life to the noble profession of nursing, where she found immense joy in supporting mothers and their new babies in labor and delivery. With gentle hands and a heart steeped in compassion, she stepped into the room not merely as a nurse, but as a quiet guardian of life’s most sacred threshold. In the most raw and vulnerable hours of life, she made birth feel not like a clinical event, but a spiritual one.
In this way, she did more than help deliver babies. She delivered peace, courage, and memory.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Randi was an extraordinary mother, a beloved grandmother, a passionate dancer, and a friend to nature and animals. Her vibrant spirit and infectious laughter touched the hearts of everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. She loved her people and her animals with her whole heart and soul, and they loved her back.
Randi is survived by her loving husband, James Owens; her daughters, Lindsey (Connor) Sorenson and Jaime (Richard) Levesque; her treasured grandchildren, Madeleine, Ethan, and Joseph; her sister, Terri Bendix; and her dearest nieces, Sydney Foster and Toni (Brian) LeMoine.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Adrienne (Jay) Adkins, and her sister, Diane (Dee Dee) Bendix.
A celebration of Randi's life will be held at the White Earth Family Office in Cass Lake on Saturday, June 21, from 11 AM to 2 PM.
She will be deeply missed, yet as she once comforted us in life, so too in memory she remains. Though she is gone for now, we know she’ll light the fire and have the coffee ready for us all on the other side.
