Richard achieved his Journeyman’s license in 1968 from the Dunwoody Institute.  He later started AC Electric and was the only electrician on the Leech Lake Reservation until his retirement in 1996.  Richard also used his knowledge to train many apprentices.  He was very proud of his son in-laws, Larry and Robin and his grandson John for following in his footsteps becoming electricians themselves.  Following his retirement, he traveled the entire country and had friends from Alaska to Texas.  Richard loved God and church and his true passion was his Lord and Savior.  He enjoyed playing guitar, which he was self-taught, and singing for God and family.  He held revival meetings from 1981 up until his passing.  People would come from all over the country to be a part of these revivals.  Richard helped out with music at the Assembly Church of Ebro and would take his worship team to various nursing homes and senior centers.  He was proud to have his grandson, Jeff, help out with music.  For several years he would sing and play at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds.  He loved to eat, especially fry bread.  Richard was also the founder of the Pennington Revival Center, Church of the Wildwood where he pastored for over twenty years.  He was a member of the Leech Lake Ojibwe Hymn singers.  Richard was loved by many and he had numerous friends.  He loved and missed his family that had passed on before him every day. Richard will be missed by his family for all the teasing he did, especially to his wife Lila and all his grandchildren.
