Robert Charwood, Jr. “Giiwedin Noodin” which means North Wind, age 83, passed away on December 18, 2021, in Kelliher, MN. Robert was born on April 22, 1938, to Robert and Louise (Bellanger) Charwood in Cass Lake, MN. He attended S. Lake and Blackduck schools. He enlisted in the US Navy and was stationed in San Diego, aboard the USS Dixie. Robert lived in Richmond, California for many years. He will be remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and sense of humor.
Robert is welcomed into the spirit world by his daughter, Anita Charwood, his parents, brother, Darrell Charwood and sisters, Adrienne Hanson, Arlene Sweedman and many more relatives.
He is survived by his son, Warren Charwood, daughter, Sharon Tapio, sisters, Muriel (Carl) Crawford, and Marilyn Roybal, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A wake for Robert will begin at 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 21, 2021, and will continue until the 1:00 p.m. service on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, all held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake. Pallbearers are Kenneth Litzau, Jr., Michael Roybal, Eduardo Roybal, Riley Roybal, Robert Roybal and Reidel Baird. Honorary pallbearers are Rob Charwood, Darrell Charwood, and Damon Staples. Interment will be held in the Leech Lake Veteran’s Cemetery in Cass Lake following the service on Wednesday.
