Robert Earl Morris, Sr.

Robert Earl Morris, Sr., age 77, of Bemidji, Minnesota began his journey to the spirit world from his home on Sunday, March 7th, 2021.  He was born in Cass Lake, MN on January 9th, 1944 the only son of Gertrude Morris and Robert Rogers.

Bob loved sailing during his time in the US Navy and was very proud of his service.  He was a skilled mechanic for the Bug-o-Nay-Ge-Shig School and could always be found under a car wrenching away.  Bob loved being on the pow-wow trail and carrying the Eagle Staff, he also enjoyed going to sweat lodges.  But most of all, he loved his family, many refer to him as “Dad” or “Papa”.

Bob is welcomed to the spirit world by his wife; Alberta Morris, parents; Bob and Gertrude, stepdad; Norval Rogers, good friend; Dave Roy and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He leaves behind his sons; Robert (Jessica) Morris, Jr. of Fridley and Jeremiah (Bee Vang) Morris of Anoka, daughters; Lynette Morris of Cass Lake and Bianca (Aiden) Morris of Duluth, stepchildren; Lavonne Piipke and Erika (Dave) Leonard both of Coon Rapids, Marcus Prenger, Jr. of Baudette, Raelynn Prenger and Louis (Jessica) Morris both of Laporte, sisters; Norma (Steve) Ducheneaux and Cheryl (Bernie Brown, Sr.) Johnson both of Cass Lake, grandchildren; William, Milo, Bryan, Eliijah, Amy, Allen, Michael, Mark, Krista, Brittany, Mariah, Maria and Miguel Jr., his BFF; May Morris, his fur babies; Baby Blue and Bang’ii, many other relatives and friends.

An overnight wake for Bob will begin at 12:00 p.m., Friday, March 12th and continue until his 1:00 p.m. traditional service on Saturday, March 13th all being held at the Veterans Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Pallbearers for Bob will be Robert Morris, Jr., Jeremiah Morris, Louis Morris, Marcus Prenger, Jr., Bernie Brown, Jr., Mick Ducheneaux, Alex Ducheneaux and Joe Ducheneaux.  His honorary pallbearers are Marcus Prenger, Sr., Nico “Two Dogs”, Ed Dalton, Terry Jourdain, Bruce White, Melvin Goodman, George Goggleye, Sr., Frank Reese and Dave Roy.  Interment will be in the Leech Lake Veterans Cemetery at Cass Lake, MN.  Military honors accorded by the Leech Lake Honor Guard from Cass Lake, MN.
