Robin “Rob” Jay Canty, age 64, passed away after a courageous battle on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, from his home in Bena, MN. He was born on November 4, 1959, in Bemidji, MN, the son of Joan (Matthews) and Oliver Canty, Jr.
Rob enjoyed all things outdoors including, ricing, bough picking, hunting, fishing, and leeching. He was especially good at “Washers” an outdoor yard game. He also took joy in working on cars, playing cribbage and poker, going to the casino on “Nifty Fifty” days. Rob loved to dance and had a great sense of humor, the spotlight in silly pictures. Above all, Rob loved spending time with family and friends. Rob will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Rob is preceded in death by his father, Oliver Canty, Jr.; sister, Brenda Canty; brother, Dana Canty; and grandparents, Yola Lane and Oliver Canty, Sr., and Lillian Isabelle Matthews.
Those left behind to forever cherish the loving memory of Rob are his mother, Joan Canty; significant other, Deanna “JoJo” Humphrey; sons, Oliver (Allison) Canty III, RJ (Sondra) Dahl, Josh Lovell; brothers, Rick and Dean Canty; sisters, LuAnn (Norman) Berge, Carla (Jim) Broste, Paula Canty; close nieces, Joanie Canty and Kylie Beaugard; 10 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and twins on the way; numerous other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Rob’s Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at the Bena Community Center, in Bena, MN. Rob’s urn bearers are Oliver Canty III, RJ Dahl, Rick Canty, and Dean Canty. Honorary urn bearers are “The Motel Boys.” A private family burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Bena, on a different date.
