Ronald Burnette Obituary

Ronald Glen Burnette “Asemaanikwad”  means " Tall Cloud" of the Bear clan started his journey to the spirit world January 9, 2026, from Bemidji MN, surrounded by his loving family.  Ron was born in Cass Lake, MN. on Jue 18, 1941 to Mike and Alice (Cummings) Burnette.

Ron was an AWESOME father, a great provider, and a very patient man, as well as a tremendous mentor to everyone, especially his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren

Ron had a great love for music and his guitars.  He truly enjoyed his weekly card games and banana bread that went with it.

He will be remembered as a great hunter and fisherman!  He loved football especially watching his grandkids play.  And without a doubt the Vikings.  He had a deep love for his foster kids, grandkids and great grandkids.  He would always make Sunday breakfast for them which was a big stack of pancakes and sausage

Ron was a PROUD member of the U.S Army, and a 35-year dedicated bus driver for the schools.  Not just routes but extra-curricular activities or wherever the children needed to get to.

Those greeting Ron in the spirit world are his parents Mike and Alice Burnette, first wife Anna Mae Burnette, daughters Elisa Mason, Michelle Burnette, and Rhonda, sons; Ron Johnson and Wolfgang, sisters Beverly, Vivian, and Charlene, special uncle Johnny Mitchell.

Those left behind to cherish his memories are his wife of 50 years Tamara Burnette, daughters Doreen Burnette, Renee Burnette-Norris, Tara Burnette, and Michelle, brothers Willis Burnette and Michael Burnette, sisters Gladys Sandstone, and Sharon Burnette, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

A two-day celebration of life will be held from 4:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026, until 5:00 p.m. Friday January 16, 2026, at the Dave Morgan Community Center in Bena, MN.  Ron's burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at the Boy Lake Cemetery, Boy Lake, MN, on Thursday prior to his service.  Those helping to lay Ron to rest are Daniel White, Dale Burnette, Justin Robinson, Randall Richardson, Jr., Johnathan Shaugobay, and Alvin Burnette.  Honorary pallbearers are Robert Anderson, Clayton Slack, Joshua Losh and all his grandkids.
