Ruth Mary (Kingbird) Morrison

Ruth Mary Morrison, “Mamiigowebinesiik” meaning “Shaking Feathers”, of Two Harbors, MN, and the Eagle Clan unexpectedly journeyed to the spirit world on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, from the Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born on February 3, 1959, in Red Lake, MN, the daughter of Lucille (Stately) and Leo Kingbird.

Ruth enjoyed singing, dancing, beading, and reading novels. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and cooking for her entire family. Ruth loved life and was an absolute joy to be around! She liked watching her show, “Charmed” on television, going for walks and being out in nature. Ruth was a funny and very helpful woman who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those greeting Ruth in the spirit world are her parents, Lucille and Leo; loving husband, Lawrence “Larry” Morrison; brothers, Valerian and Leo Kingbird, Sr.; sister, Barbara Kingbird; sister-in-law, Diane Kingbird; and a grandson, Louis Kingbird.

Those Ruth leaves behind to forever cherish her loving memory are her sons, Eric Kingbird, Garrett Whiteman, Geno Whiteman, Leonard Nickaboine, Keegan Morrison; daughter, Ricka Kingbird; brothers, Wayne, Gordan (Annabell), and Ron (Sharon) Kingbird; sisters, Connie Beaulieu and Valerie (Bob) Weaver; close cousins, Eunice and Teresa Lightfeather; numerous other family and friends.

An overnight wake for Ruth will begin on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. and continue until her traditional service on Friday, July 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., all to be held at the Boys and Girls Club in Ponemah, MN. Those helping to lay Ruth to rest are Eric Kingbird, Garrett Whiteman, Leonard Nickaboine, Valerian Kingbird, Vincent Kingbird, Sr., Wayne Kingbird, Jr., Ryan Kingbird, and Tre Shaun Neadeau. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Strassburg and Barry King. Interment will be in the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, MN.
