Scott Wade Kellar started his journey on Friday, March 6th, 2026, at the age of 50. Scott passed away in Bagley, MN.
Scott was born on January 4th, 1976, in Minneapolis, MN to Barbara and Dennis Kellar. He grew up and attended High School in Burnsville, MN. He also attended college at Mankato State University. After college, he became a police officer and loved working for Leech Lake from July of 2005 to August of 2016. During this time, he served as a patrol officer working his way through the ranks to become the domestic violence investigator, sergeant of police and then to assistant police chief. Scott then worked as a corrections officer at Northwest Juvenile Detention Center. He also worked for Lutheran Social Services, REM, Gerdau, and GSSC before becoming a security officer for Sanford Hospital in Bagley, MN. He worked there until his passing. When Scott wasn’t working, he enjoyed being outdoors and helping anyone in need.
He will be lovingly remembered by Jes Kingbird; father, Dennis Kellar; mother and father in-law, Jody Wind, Arnold “Barney” (Nancy) Kingbird; brothers, Michael (Kristine) Kellar, Nathan (Beth) Kingbird, Franklin Kingbird, and Chad Budreau; sisters, Ann (Brian) Wild, Angel (George) Wind, and Delma Kingbird; nieces, Ashley and Rachel Kellar, Candace Jacobs, Lanie Jacobs-Wind, Jenni Wild, Gianna Kingbird-Wind, Kyloni and Kal’Leigh Budreau; nephews, Tyler and Joshua Wild, Jarell Jacobs, Derek Wind, Donald Wind, Jr., Easton Bauer, and Remi Kingbird; many cousins and friends.
Those greeting him are his mother, Barbara Kellar; grandparents, Robert and Lorraine Hammerstrom and Gerald and Corinne Kellar; and aunts, Bonnie Kreatz, Luanne Hammerstrom, and Jane Anderson.
A Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21st, 2026, at the White Earth Family Center in Cass Lake, MN. Inurnment will be at a later date.
