Simon Joseph Goose

Simon Joseph Goose, 23 years young, of Laporte, Minnesota was born to Timothy Goose and Rhonda Hurd on September 24th, 1996 at North Country Hospital in Bemidji, Minnesota.  Simon began his great journey to the spirit world on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2020 from the Sanford Hospital in Cass Lake, MN

Simon grew up on the reservation all his life, he attended Cass Lake-Bena High School and graduated with the class of 2016.  He was very good with his hands and loved almost everything.  Simon was a fast learner and excelled when it came to auto mechanics, welding, and woodwork.  Simon enjoyed playing videos with his friends on the internet.  He loved the great outdoors, like walking in the woods with his father and brother Dillon and shooting guns with them.  Simon will be remembered for playing the guitar, he taught himself how to play after watching his grandfather John Smith play Johnny Cash music.  Simon deeply loved his two nieces Ariana and Zaria Rivera, who will miss him in the coming days.  Simon was very protective over them and was very playful with them.  Simon Goose was the type of person who would give you his last dollar and the shirt off his back if you asked.  There are many fond memories of Simon Goose and those memories shall not be forgotten.  He will return to the heavens, after all angels; only exist in heaven. We will meet again.

The family that welcome him home are his mother, Rhonda Hurd, who is now reunited with in the spirit world; his grandpa on his father’s side, John "Johnny" Smith; his grandparents on his mother’s side, Beatrice and Robert Hurd; his great grandparents, Clarence and Mary White; his aunty, Jolene Goose, and his cousins, Marlene and Julie Weyaus.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are his father, Timothy Goose; grandmother, Marlene Smith; his older sister, Kendra Leigh Goose; younger sister, Sandra Lynn Goose; his three stepbrothers, Eli, Quanah, and Travis Goose; his other brother from a new relationship, Dillon Duyne Whitefeather; sister, Darlene Whitefeather, his stepmom, Jolene Whitefeather; aunties, Cindy Hurd, Debbie Hurd, Kathy, Corienne Goose, Andrea Goose; cousins, Vanessa Jones, Maggie Whitefeather and April Hurd; nieces; Arianna, Zaria, and numerous other friend and relatives.

The wake for Simon will begin at 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 26th and continue until his 10:00 a.m., funeral service on Sunday, June 28th all to be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN.  Pallbearers for Simon will be Timothy Goose, Eli Goose, Dillon Whitefeather, Jullian Weyuas, Michael Gonzales, Kyle Mitchell and Ryan Nabors.  At Simon’s request, his cremated remains will remain in his family’s care.
