Stanley Harris O'Brien, Jr.

Stanley Harris O’Brien, Jr., age 50, of Solway, Minnesota passed away at Sanford Medical Center on Sunday, July 25th, 2021, in Fargo, North Dakota. He was born on June 24th, 1971, to Stanley Harris O’Brien and Ila (Platt) Hanson in Atlanta, Georgia.

Stanley graduated high school in Argusville, ND in 1989. He loved learning and going to school so much that he had several college degrees. He was fascinated by electricity and how it worked. He loved computers and working on them. Stanley was a handyman and could fix anything. He enjoyed bowhunting (for deer) and fishing in his spare time. He was for helping anyone, anywhere. He enjoyed teasing and picking on people, especially his family and friends.

Stanley is preceded in death by his biological father, (who passed away when he was only a young boy) Stanley Harris O’Brien; maternal grandparents, Harold and Jessie Platt; stepfather/dad, Larry Hanson; cousin, Alfred Wayne Platt, Jr.; and best friend, Dan Etlic.

Those Stanley leaves behind to cherish his memory are his mother, Ila Hanson; fiancé, Michelle Hurley of Bemidji, MN; son, Michael (Lisha) Smith of Fort Dodge, IA; daughter, Kimberly Smith; Step children Shawn and Chelsey Hurley of Bemidji, MN; brothers, Dennis Newland of Solway, MN, Harold O’Brien of Monticello, MN, Kevin (Lynette) Hanson of North Dakota, Keith Hanson of Fargo, ND, Scott (Heidi) Hanson of Grandin, ND, Steve (Steph) Hanson of Fargo, ND, Jeff (Alicia) Hanson of South Dakota, Marlin (Lorie) Hanson of Shevlin, MN; sisters, Cindy (Curtis) Julin of Guthrie, MN, and Tammy (Lester) Edlman of Becida, MN; grandson, Ace Smith of Fort Dodge, IA, numerous nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.

A celebration of Life for Stanley will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at the Solway Bible Chapel, 222 Solway Ave. NW, Solway, MN
