Taylor Mark LaGou, "Moshkade Bizhiki Gwiiwizens " meaning "Prairie Buffalo Boy,” of the Eagle Clan and Red Lake, began his journey on November 2, 2024, at Masonic Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, MN, after battling Duchenne’s Muscular Dystrophy, with his family by his side. Taylor faced his disease with strength, a good heart, and happiness towards everyone he met, and he always was willing to help others.
Taylor was born September 12, 2002, in Virginia Beach, VA, and was two years old when he came home to Red Lake to “be a Brave”. Taylor loved to sing, play his hand drum and he was an avid gamer, he loved spending time with family and friends, specifically his little siblings. Taylor had extensive knowledge of the Ojibwe language and loved reading and singing in Ojibwe, to the little ones at the Waasibiik school and the Endaazhinitaawiging charter school. Taylor started dancing pow wow when he was 3 years old and was the Head Start Brave in his second year of school. When Taylor was 9 years old, he was named Goodwill Ambassador for the Duluth Chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, where he spent a year visiting the businesses that helped raise money to fight this disease. Taylor was a proud member on the drum, Mudpuddle, from Seine River, Ontario and he loved this family dearly.
Taylor leaves behind his father, Jeffrey LaGou; mother, Janessa Mann (Oxford, MA); siblings, Aliyah Norris, Gabriel Norris, Eli Norris, Heavenly Parkhurst, Migisikwe LaGou, and Makoons LaGou; gramma, Candace LaGou; great grandma, Marjorie Helphenstine; grandma, Brenda Bishko; grandfather, Randy Mann; aunts, Brianna Swett, Kayleen Bishko; very special childhood best friend, Arianna Greene; many other relatives and friends.
