Terry Dale Smith

Terry Dale Smith 71, “Nay-ga-ji-wan” which means “one who hides away” of Walker, MN began his Journey from the Minneapolis Veterans Hospital on June 28, 2024.  He was born to Leo and Frances (Gould) Jordan on March12, 1953 in Cass Lake, MN.

Terry graduated from WHA on the B honor roll in 1972 and enlisted in the U.S. Army that same year.  After serving in the Army for 8 years Terry moved back to the Walker area.  He attended Northwest Technical College getting his degree in carpentry.

Terry loved his Minnesota sports teams; he was a BIG fan!  He loved to raise heck with his nieces and nephews, he was quite the joker. Terry was known to be a social butterfly. He enjoyed family time, BBQs, and stock car racing. He was a bit of a gambler…. some would say an avid gambler.  But what he really loved was family time.

Those greeting Terry in the spirit world are his parents; Leo and Frances Jordan, brothers; David Smith, Leo Jordan Jr., John Smith, sisters; Linda Munstenteiger, and Frieda Oothoudt. as well as numerous other family members.

Those he leaves behind to cherish his memory are 9 children and 11 grandchildren.  Brother; Michael (Patty) Smith Sr., Donald Wayne Smith, Robin Lee Jordan, Jerry Ray Jordan sisters; Gloria Jean Beaulieu, Kathy (Carl) Frazer, Theresa Jordan, Margaret (Ken) Jordan, and Beverly (Dale)Jordan.

Terry’s service will be July 11, 2024, at the Veterans Memorial Building at 11:00 a.m.  in Cass Lake, MN. Father Bill Butcher will officiate.  Pallbearers are Joshua Thompson, Jeremiah Smith, Austin Jordan, Aaron Oothoudt, Charles Oothoudt, and Rob Jordan Jr Alternate pallbearers are Carl Frazer Jr, Cecil Haugen, and Zachary Jordan.  Honorary pallbearers are Teddie Redwing (Commander) an abundance of nieces and nephews, all of his friends and family, and the Leech Lake Honor Guard.  Interment will be immediately after the service at the Leech Lake Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Cass Lake, MN.

A celebration of life will be held at the Onigum Community Center at 4:00 p.m. following the services at the Vets Memorial Building.
