Thomas John Popehn

Popehn, Thomas J., Age 71 of Brooklyn Park, MN passed away on October 18th , 2020 surrounded by his family.  He was born on July 6th, 1949 in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Joanne (Wilson) and Arthur Popehn.

Our dear father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to so many, loved to go to the cabin in Longville for 60 plus years.  He had a great love for the cabin and visiting Mazatlan, Mexico in the winter months for the last 29 years.  He embraced the culture and made many lifelong relationships with people from the USA, Canada, Mexico.  There are no words to describe how truly missed he will be. He will be looking down on all of us, loving all of us.

He joined his wife of 51 years, Catherine (Filburn) Popehn, on their 51st wedding anniversary and his mother Joanne Popehn.

He will be missed by his children, Angie (Greg) Laurent, Chris (Cassie) Popehn, Paul (Deborah) Popehn, and Andy (Laura) Popehn; his father, Arthur J. Popehn; siblings, John Popehn, Peggy (Steve) Carlson, and Jim Popehn; grandchildren, Justin,  Brandon, Brian, Jessica, Brianna, Caleb, Ayden, Emma, Mary and Jacob; great- grandson Sam and many friends and extended family.

Funeral Mass will be held at the Basilica of Saint Mary, 88 17th St. N, Minneapolis, MN 55403 on Friday October 23rd, at 10 a.m.  In lieu of flowers please donate to Gilda Club Twin Cities at gildasclubtwincities.org/donate.
