Todd Deatherage Obituary

In loving memory of Todd (Toddy) Ray Deatherage, age 45, of Walker, MN, who passed away in the early morning hours of April 24, 2024.

Toddy was born in Seoul, South Korea, and was later found on the steps of a police station approximately two years later June 23, 1980. He was deemed a “John-Doe” and given the birthdate of June 23, 1978. In less than a year Little People of America’s adoption agency found him his new parents, Timothy & Barbara Deatherage of Wichita Falls, TX. Spending the next 36 years of his life in Wichita Falls, Todd impacted everyone who had the privilege of crossing his path. On September 25, 2017, he married his Beloved Jennifer, whom he had loved since childhood. They moved to Walker, MN, where he experienced enjoyable summers, beautiful winters, and continued to love her completely for the rest of his days.

Toddy was a devoted husband, bonus dad, papaw, and friend whose life illuminated love, compassion, and faith. Guided by his unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ, he became a beacon of kindness and understanding, touching the hearts of all who knew him.

Despite his small stature, Todd was a giant in so many ways. His love for his beloved wife and their family knew no bounds, as he embraced each member with boundless affection and care. He showed this tangibly to his wife and children through his meticulous cooking, always ensuring the adult children knew when their favorite meal would be on the table and saving them leftovers if they were unable to attend. Todd’s genuine interest in others transcended barriers; he cherished every encounter, meticulously taking notes to ensure everyone felt valued and seen.

An avid pool player and an extreme foodie, Todd found joy in the camaraderie of the game, the fellowship of his community, and the adventure of trying new foods or introducing others to foods he enjoyed and knew others needed to experience.

Despite enduring numerous challenging surgeries, his resilience and spirit remained unbroken, and his gratitude for the care he received was a testament to his enduring humility and grace.

In Todd’s departure, we mourn the loss of a remarkable soul whose presence brought light and warmth to all who knew him. Though he may have left this earthly realm, his legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire and uplift us all. May Todd’s memory be a blessing, and may his spirit find eternal peace in the loving embrace of his Savior, where he is finally free of physical and mental pain.

Toddy is preceded in death by his parents, Tim & Barbara Deatherage; sister, Amanda Folden; father-in-law, Ronald Moe; and father figure, Jimmy York.

He is survived by his wife, Jen; daughters, Lexi (Michael) Fleming and Breanna Holt; sons, Carter, Daniel, and Easton Holt; grandson, Callen Fleming; mother-in-law, Delores Moe; brothers-in-law, Nathan Folden, Rick (Robin) Moe, and Jeff (Margi) Moe; sisters-in law, Rhonda (Jeff) Wiedemann, Jill (Troy) Stewart, Jackie (Kip) Moe; niece, Jennie Folden; nephew, Bentley Folden; and so many more nieces and nephews on Jen’s side; bonus family, (because Toddy knew better than anyone that family was not about blood) Chad, Kristen, and Brayden Gore, Scott & Sonjia Spring, and god-daughter, Tessa Thompson; his pool family and too many more to mention.
