Vincent Gregory White

Vincent Gregory White “Nigaani Gizhig Ininni” which means “Leading Sky Man” the son of Betty Parkhurst and Harold R. White Sr., passed away on October 21, 2023.  Vincent was born on October 11, 1949, in Red Lake Minnesota.

Vincent grew up in Red Lake, Minnesota and graduated from Red Lake High School.  After high school Vincent went into the US Army, He was a proud member of 101st Airborne the “Screaming Eagles.”  Vincent served in the Vietnam war from January 1970 until March 1971. He was a Sergeant while in the Army.

Vincent was a proud father to Vincent Martin, and proud grandpa to Alex James.  He was a good provider to his family and helped them out in every way he possibly could.  He was a good man with many friends.  He had a love for music, movies, and writing.  In his younger years Vin enjoyed shooting pool and hanging out with his friends.  He took pride in the fact that his team were Chequamagon Bay area Champions in 1977 shooting for the “Office”.  

He attended WITC in Ashland Wisconsin where he trained in welding, he graduated in 1979.  He and his family moved to Minneapolis, where he was employed at Caswell International Welding from 1984-1997.

Vincent was preceded in death by his father Harold R White Sr.; brothers Harold (Dunesy) White Jr., Ricky, and Avery; Son Vincent Martin; grandparents Charles and Jane Lussier; uncles and aunts “Buncie”, Doug and Bebs, Barbara Brown, Joanne Head, and Beverly Andree.

Vincent is survived by his mother Betty Parkhurst; grandson Alex James; Brothers James, Ron (Darla), Sean and William White; sisters Angela, Julie, Danielle, and Tanya White; Special family/friends, Auntie Patsy White, Sydney Sayers, and Georgina Brown.

A wake for Vincent will begin on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. and continue until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday October 25, 2023, p.m.  Traditional Service, all to be held at the New Red Lake Center in Red Lake, Minnesota.  Vincent’s Spiritual Advisor is Allen Hardy.  Those helping to lay Vincent to rest are Pete White, Dan Erickson, William White, Neal Johnson, Lee Lussier Sr., and Clayton Strong.  Honorary pallbearers are Mitch Johnson, and Dosh Spears.   Inurnment will be held at a later date.
