Wally Storbakken, “Wagosh” which means “fox” of Onigum Minnesota, started his journey on Thursday July 20th, 2023 from his home.
Wally proudly served in the U.S. Army as a medical corpsman. Following his service to his country he attended the University of Minnesota where he graduated with a BA in Political Science. That is where he met his darlin “Bodakwe” They were married and have been for 30 great years! He went on to get his master’s degree in public policy and did a fellowship in Austria.
Wally was devoted to Indian Affairs for decades. He was a member of the Leech Lake Mississippi band. He spent years being a strong advocate for Indian Rights.
Most recently Wally was a member of the delegation working on the MCT constitution reform alliance.
Wally was VERY family oriented; he was kind gentle and very loving. He adored his 8 grandchildren and attending his grandson Baseball tournaments. He proudly displayed his grandchildrens Eagle Scout pins on his hat! He also enjoyed a cold one on the beach or around the fire with family and friends. His favorite pastime was spending time with Debra AKA Bodakwe and traveling throughout the United States.
A wake will be held for Wallace at 7:00 p.m. July 26th. 2023 at the Northern Lights Event Center, Onigum Room Walker, Minnesota. Service will be July 27th, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at the Northern Lights Event Center, Onigum Room, Walker, Minnesota. Mike Smith Jr. as spiritual advisor and officiating Deacon Ramsey. Interment will be in the Old Agency Catholic Cemetery, Onigum Minnesota.
